Mental Health First Aid
Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) is an internationally recognised training course that teaches people how to spot the signs and symptoms of mental ill health and provide help on a first aid basis. Delivered through a mix of group activities, presentations, and discussions, this practical course is designed to build awareness, confidence, and key interpersonal skills.
Participants will gain a deeper understanding of mental health, the factors that can affect wellbeing — including their own — and learn how to recognise the triggers and signs of mental health issues. The course equips individuals with the confidence to step in, offer reassurance, and support someone in distress, as well as the knowledge to guide them towards appropriate help.
By attending an MHFA England course, participants will raise their awareness and understanding of mental health, help reduce stigma, and build confidence in dealing with mental health concerns. It also promotes early intervention, which is key to supporting recovery. The course is open to anyone aged 16 and over.
